Three-step framework

Conflict Resolution

Step 1 — Informal resolution (24–48 hours)

  • Direct communication between the parties involved
  • Mediation by mutual community members
  • Focus on understanding and mutual agreement
  • Resolution documented for future reference

Step 2 — Formal mediation (3–5 days)

  • Mediation requested through community moderators
  • Neutral mediator assigned from the editorial team
  • Structured conversation with defined guidelines
  • Written agreement on resolution terms

Step 3 — Administrative action (5–7 days)

  • Persistent issues escalated to platform administrators
  • Investigation by review committee
  • Appropriate consequences determined
  • Appeals process available for all decisions

Escalation pathways

  • Minor: private reminder, educational resources, opportunity to correct, follow-up within two weeks.
  • Moderate: formal warning on record, temporary activity restrictions, required training, mentorship pairing.
  • Serious: temporary suspension, restorative justice process, formal hearing, possible permanent removal with due process.

Response timeline

  • Immediate (24 hours): acknowledge receipt, assess urgency and potential harm, take interim measures if needed, assign to a reviewer.
  • Investigation (3–5 days): gather evidence, review against standards, consult subject-matter experts, determine resolution approach.
  • Resolution (5–7 days): communicate decision to all parties, implement consequences, provide support for those affected, document outcome.
